OUR STORY
Back in the 1990s, in her small hometown of Cortland, Ohio, Jen and her siblings looked forward to hot summers and Hawaiian shave ice.
"There was a Hawaiian shave ice pop-up next to the local roller rink, and we were delighted when it opened each summer. It was the destination of choice for a frozen summertime treat."

Jen's "destinations of choice" shifted from East Coast to West after she left Cortland, graduated from Ohio University and entered the working world. Jen moved to California in 2008, where she spent ten years working. While she'd always revisit her favorite East Coast destination (Key West), the Hawaiian islands were closer and she was "required" to travel there on business a few times a year. On each island, Jen made it her mission to try every Hawaiian shave ice she could - sometimes two or three bowls a day, ranking them one-by-one. Every few days, she'd introduce a Kona Cold Brew, Acai or Coconut bowl to mix it up. She used to joke with her best friends and her colleagues, "One day, when I hit it big, I will run a proper Hawaiian shave ice shop in Key West."
Fast forward to the present day. Jen launched a small business in April of 2020 and moved back to Ohio to be closer to friends and family. By all accounts, she hit it big. Her passion for curating special experiences for her friends and family lived on - when she couldn't find the real thing, she bought a commercial Hawaiian shave (block) ice machine so she would have one on hand for pool parties and Summer Fridays. Safe to say she passed her obsession on to family and friends, who not only visit for the company - but also Jen's Hawaiian shave ice.
While a business and brand was formed years ago, Jen is fully committed elsewhere. The company she built in 2020 requires her vision and presence. So in the summer of 2026, when Lucas asked whether he could help operate the business and help bring this vision to life, there was only one answer.
Kauai-Grade. Columbus-Made.
